It’s here! It’s time! The big Fall Town Wide Yard Sale and The Great Potato Bake are on Saturday, October 9th, and people all over Poultney are getting involved! From 9 to 4 you can prowl Poultney streets and roads in search of your heart’s desire. Veteran yard salers advise making a list, but it’s also fun to just check out what’s available. You might just find that special something you’ve been looking for all your life.
The timing is perfect this year, and the leaves should be brilliant. The weather, as always, will be good and the bargains even better. Whether you’re looking for artwork, flatware, household goods, chairs, or collectibles, you’ll find it somewhere in town. Townspeople in Poultney, East Poultney, North Poultney and South Poultney will be haul out their collection of treasures, and you get the benefit. .
Sometimes people have a new item they’ve never used, or decided they don’t like the style. Maybe they inherited some old linens, or furniture, or even a kitchen sink. If you’re renovating, or restoring, furnishing, or just changing the decor, the Fall Town Wide Yard Sale is the place to search.

Speaking of food, remember The Great Potato Bake in front of Williams Hardware, a fund-raiser for the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce. A delicious big baked potato with all kinds of toppings available. Eat at the site, and be entertained by the Dancing Potato! Or take a bunch home for dinner, a quick and easy meal after a long day of yard saling.
There are other food vendors as well, with hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, fried dough. Or you can one of Poultney’s restaurants, with selections from family style, Mexican, sandwiches, or grab ‘n’ go.
