July 4th Parade Planning is Underway!

Ready for some warm weather?  It’s not too soon to start thinking ahead to the 4th of July parade, the activities, and the big fireworks display.  Poultney has one of the largest celebrations in the area!.

The fun starts on Saturday with the 10th Annual Lake St. Catherine Boat Parade on Saturday, July 2nd at 1 PM.  The Lake St. Catherine Association will hold a lake-wide vote to determine the winners in four categories.

The big town parade will be held Monday, July 4th, 2022, starting in East Poultney, VT.  This year’s theme is “Poultney:  Four Seasons of Fun”.  There’s plenty of room there for your imagination, and there should be room in the parade for everyone who wants to participate.

It’s your chance to celebrate life getting back to normal, and you might even win a prize!  Organizations, businesses, informal groups, families, and even individuals can register.  (It’s fun, and great publicity)  Registration forms will be out soon.

If you want to participate but you’re not sure what kind of float or entry to create, email poultney4th@gmail.com and they’ll connect you with a float builder extraordinaire.

Judging of entries will take place in East Poultney as the parade lines up.  The Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce provides the judges for the five categories, and winners will carry signs sponsored by Mars Insurance Agency.

Categories include:  Best Depiction of the Organization, Most Photographic, Most Patriotic, Best Depiction of the Theme, and Business That Best Depicts the Theme.  The Chamber will awards cash prizes of $100.00 to each winner.

We want you to have plenty of notice this year so you can settle on your idea early, and have lots of time to plan and create your entry.  So put your thinking cap on, scour the internet for ideas, or email the committee. We want to see YOU at Poultney’s big 4th of July parade, Monday, July 4th, 2022!
