Poultney 4th of July celebration is back!

It has been a challenging couple of years to say the least.

The Poultney 4th of July committee is excited to once again invite you to come celebrate with us this Independence Day! This year, the 4th falls on a Monday.

On Monday July 4th, the Martin Devlin Fun Run will be live after a three-year virtual / digital event. The race will leave from Poultney Elementary School with check-in from 6:45 to 7:45, and the race kicks off at 8 AM.  Download the registration form at www.PoultneyRecreation.com or register online at  martindevlin5k2022.racewire.com

There will be a pancake breakfast at the Poultney Methodist Church from 8 AM to 10 AM.

The parade will be lining up in East Poultney, with all entries ready for judging at 9 AM.  By special arrangement, the parade this year will be led by crew members of the USS Vermont.  It steps off at 10 AM, proceeds down Main Street to the campus, turning onto College Street, and ending at Poultney Elementary School.

After the parade there will be a cookout and the famous lemonade stand run by the Bhakta children at the Bhakta campus.  Adult beverages will be available for tasting; proceeds benefit the Green Mountain Community School.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will also be held for the inaugural firing of the Bhakta Spirits alembic still.

There will be delicious variety food vendors for the afternoon and evening events, along with a puppet show and music entertainment.  Donations are accepted to defray the cost of fireworks.

Back by popular demand, DJ John Saltis will play music from 8:00 – 9:15 PM. As always, we will be entertained by a fantastic array of fireworks beginning at dusk.

This year’s theme is: “Poultney – Four Seasons of Fun”

If you, your organization or your business is interested in lending support to our annual event, or would like to march in the parade or submit a float, download, fill out and return the appropriate  form.  Need more? All forms are on line at PoultneyRecreation.com/4thofJuly and at PoultneyAreaChamber.com. They are also available at the Poultney Town Hall and the Poultney Public Library.

We are also in need of volunteers to help with traffic control, the bucket brigade to accept donations and clean up.

Looking forward to seeing you out there!
