Meet Janis and Jason Reinke – Frog Hollow Farmstead & The Farmstand Café and Market
A family dream blooms from fields to farm stand and café as Frog Hollow Farmstead brings fresh local food to our area. On a small farm in Hubbardton, scented herbs and colorful produce provides a plentiful bounty for a thriving business bringing farm freshness directly to our community.
The dream started in 2020 with the family moving from Ohio to Vermont and buying a farm. While visiting Vermont, Janis and Jason separately started looking for farms in the Vermont area in hopes to visit each one. They both found a farm they wanted to visit, little did they know that they had picked the same one. The moment they saw the farm, it was love at first sight. They put in an offer and the rest is history.
The COVID years made it difficult at first but they wanted a place where people could visit, connect and learn where great food comes from. They opened the farm on weekends for hikes, picnics and specialty foods from their gardens. Janis is a chef by trade and had a vison for future plans. In November 2023, they opened The Farmstand Cafe in Castleton to fulfill a community need for a place to meet to sip coffee, visit and enjoy fresh and seasonal foods.
The Café currently serves breakfast and lunch. Many menu items come directly from the farm. Dinner is available on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer with a small menu based on seasonal produce. Take-out will be available as well as BYOB for in house dining.
Janis and Jason really love the area and the fun mix of people they get to meet. They are looking forward hosting their new special events and farmers market for the community to enjoy.
