Nominations Sought for Poultney Citizen of the Year

Who do you know that has provided continuing outstanding volunteer service to the people of Poultney? Someone who just goes quietly about helping others, without asking for thanks, or looking for awards or publicity?

That sort of person could be just the one we’re looking for to recognize as the 2025 Poultney Citizen Of The Year. The award is given each year to a Poultney citizen who has contributed to the betterment of the Poultney community, provided continuing outstanding service to the community, and who demonstrates the true spirit of service.

The 2025 Citizen Of The Year will be honored with the presentation of a personalized slate clock. A reception and open house will be held in October. Her or she will also be part of the Official Tree Tapping Ceremony at the next Maplefest in March, and server as Grand Marshall in the next Fourth of July parade.

A recipient may receive the award one time, but anyone can be nominated more than once. A list of past recipients is available on the PACC website https://poultneyareachamber.com/residents/citizen-of-the-year/, or by emailing
PoultneyVTChamber@gmail.com

Nominations are easy: just send the name of the person along with a description of why you are nominating that person, including examples of the nominee’s continuing service to the community. You do not need to be a Poultney resident to submit a nomination.

Also please do make sure you include your own name, address, and phone number, in case the Chamber committee needs more information. Nominations can be sent by email to PoultneyVTChamber@gmail.com, by mail to PACC Citizen Of The Year, PO Box 151, Poultney, VT 05764, or delivered in a sealed envelope to The Original Vermont Store.

Nominations must be received by September 13, 2025, by 5 pm. The choice will be made at the PACC September 16 th meeting and released shortly afterwards.
