At the very heart of the village you will find a picturesque Main Street lined on both sides by historic buildings peppered with businesses, eateries, and shops.
Right in the heart of Poultney, the downtown area plays host to many of our larger events and festivities year round.
With March comes Maple Fest, an annual festival that features a tree tapping ceremony, wagon rides through town, and a craft and food fair. In May Memorial Day brings a parade down through Main Street capping off with an annual chicken barbecue.
Come summer we have a Farmers Market every Thursday where you can find local and artisan crafts and foods. In July we celebrate our nations independence with a parade, fun run, and fireworks at dusk.
By autumn things begin to wind down, but not before the Rotary Club holds their annual Chili Cook Off in which families and organizations compete for visitor votes to be bestowed the title of Best Chili Chef.
When winter comes Poultney is at its quietest although there is still a bit of magic left to draw residents out of their warm homes. This is the time of year that Santa come to Poultney. Starting with story time at the Poultney Public Library there is a procession with Santa to the Town Hall where we light the memory tree
